It is officially 94 degrees but it is humid so it feels like 101. Hello summer.
My Nest program helps me adjust. It artificially changes my high end temp so that every now and then I'll look up and think 'hmmmm, sure feels warm' only to find out that Nest has snuck the high temp up two or three degrees. I actually like it. Saves me a few bucks and bringing the house back down three degrees is not hard and it feels really cool when it is actually still fairly warm. Our high end setting is 75 degrees. Nest is usually trying to talk me into 78 when I'd actually like it to be 74. So we tussle and it saves us a few bucks when the temps are routinely over 100. Like from now to November.
I played pickleball again today. It was fun, as always. I made some bonehead shots but also made some pretty amazing shots too. My feet are still a bit leaden. It is amazing how quickly I lost the spring in my step. It is getting better. One of the ladies we played with is 82. Or 84. Can't remember. But she has AFIB too and much more serious than I. When she goes into AFIB she ends up in the hospital. I'm constantly in AFIB and would not even know if I didn't check. She's twice had the ablative procedure (where they actually kill off the part of your heart that is causing problems) and it hasn't solved the problem. So she's on drugs that screw her up. Still playing pickleball, though. Great lady and loads of good info for me.
Nothing sked for the weekend. I'm toying with the idea of a nice bike ride but it will have to be early. It will be pushing 80 by 11:30. It would be good for me to just do a short ride soon as I come back with Zoe. Just to tool around the neighborhood for an hour listening to music.
Nothing else needed until Monday morning when I take Zoe to Texas A&M for her six month workup as part of the Dog Aging Project. I think they are going to find she's in early stages of diabetes. She's drinking two or three times as much water as she was five months ago and it is not the heat. So it goes. Even worst case the prognosis is three years. She's 13 and otherwise healthy so that would be a good run.
