He's a cutie and very sweet. He was in his cubby hole and there was not a lot of room to get a good photo. I'll get a better one when I can walk him. But he seems happy and already adjusting. Gets lots of attention which can, I'm sure, be confusing. I think he's too small (maybe 40 pounds or so) to be over in the building with the big dogs where I work but I can always go over and say hi.

There are a hundred dogs at the Ranch and a family's story with every one.

I was there a bit longer today and did about 4500 steps and was, again, exhausted and very sore by the time I was done. I suspect I'll keep the Ranch days a bit shorter than usual for another week or two. Lots of recovery time. But it sure is nice to see the dogs.

As people so frequently say about such jobs: I get so much more out of it than I put in. And, yeah, seeing the bright face of the dogs who obviously recognize me when I get there in the morning makes my day and lasts a very long time. They've all seen a lot in their lives and now just soak up the love.

He's so adorable! I admire your forbearance with humans. My attitude is that I don't care what your circumstances are, you can still surrender a dog properly, or at the very least call someone to do that, not just abandon a family member. I'm very happy Outlaw is at the ranch and please give him an extra ear scratch from me.

I work hard at maintaining boundaries at the Ranch. My job is to walk and care for the dogs and it stops there. Occasionally I do a bit extra usually to make my job easier and if that benefits others at the Ranch all the better. But I try not to look too far beyond the job. I seldom look at the people or circumstances behind the dogs but see the dogs as their own entities and meet them there. It gets me through. I'm not an advocate, I'm a walker.
It is the only way I can do it.
