Minor reality rant

Quiet day today. The Dog Ranch had a couple of extra people who came on the 4th so it was nice. I could spend more time with my best friends. The Ranch is far enough out in the sticks that I'm hoping fireworks are not going to make them crazy tonight. Fortunately our two dogs don't much care and will sleep through what will continue until near dawn around here.

Meanwhile and completely different I signed up for mastodon after reading @susandennis entry. During the sign up I got this captcha:



I do not see any animals in this picture. I see caricatures of animals. I see cartoons of animals.  But I do not see any animals.

It is human to be pedantic so I should get a box saying that this captcha is ridiculous and automatically get passed.

In retrospect, I should have clicked skip.  Next time.

It happens all the time

We had some cherry pie that I'd bought. HEB makes a decent cherry pie and sells half a pie for probably too much money. I don't check the price but I do eat the pie making it last four or five servings.

Dana said, 'Hey, you need to get come vanilla ice cream' obviously meaning I need to buy some before the pie is gone so I can have it with the pie. Too late.

But I did buy ice cream. Hers and mine. Both vanilla (she's lactose intolerant so Nada Moo).

And no pie. I was going to buy a small spice cake that HEB always has in their flat frig near the front door. But as I frequently do, 'that's dumb, I've got the makings at home and can do at least as well with stuff I've already paid for'.

Hence tonight's desert:



A joy for me is to have stuff on hand to throw together and make cake or cookies or bread without having to go the to the store. I can nearly always do that only occasionally having to grab some butter milk or something like that.

This was an entirely stuff on hand cake.

And, I have vanilla ice cream to go with it. Amazing how that works out.
