Doggie drama and new struts
Aug. 22nd, 2023 13:04Zoe was stung or bit by something in our yard yesterday afternoon. This was the result:

She looked really depressed and not happy with life.
I managed to get her to take 3 Benadryl and it knocked her out and probably helped some with whatever was making her head swell. The vet wanted us to watch her breathing. As I was watching TV she was lying behind me softly snoring so I took that as a breathing monitor. She slept through the night and got in our bed around 3AM. We both breathed a sigh of relief. It meant that she was better and wanting to rejoin the pack.
This morning she was moving much better. Not that sad, listless movement that dogs get when they are feeling really badly. I gave her more Benadryl and she ate her breakfast. Not nearly as bad as when she was bitten by a rattle snake when she was a couple of years old. But at her age (and ours), still traumatic.
The back hatch glass on my Smart car has started falling on my head when I reach in. I hate that and was about to reach out to Mercedes when I asked Dr Internet. Low and behold it is an easy fix. I've got two replacement gas piston struts on order and am assured all over the place that the replacement is easy. Fixed for under $35. Finger's crossed.
Meanwhile back at the Ranch. Tommy did move on and Shadow has a place all to herself. She seems about the same. Dogs love routine but adapt so well to new circumstances.
New dog I walked today. There were only two walkers (usually four but one moved away and another was out) so I walked one or two I don't typically walk. This is Peaches. She is as cute as she looks:

Apparently she did go to someone's home but bit their other dog and is now back. The dog probably deserved it.
Here is Peaches close up:

And one of my favorite dogs to photograph, Dan:

Dan is just a good old Texas hound. He sounds like it when he bays. I can hear his voice all over the Ranch.
