I screwed up. Rather than cancel the YouTubeTV $80/month I paused it. And did not put it on my calendar. So, of course, rather than be customer focused and say something in advance Google just kicked it off again and said 'Welcome back!!" I paused it to end of August and will put it in my calendar but in a month that I've already spent too much this is an annoyance. Survivable, but unnecessary.
I've got a list of subscriptions but need to check it again. Later today. Be sure they are all on the calendar.
The transition of not having an evening news show has been the most difficult. There is news but we have gotten so used to the rhythm of the half hour news show that it is hard to get away. We have that for two months. I get way more news via newsletters like 1440 and Axios and hardly need broadcast news. Reading for two minutes about the FSKey bridge collapse gave me more information than half an hour of governor and mayor and other public figures saying the same thing repeatedly. I watch but resent the facile broadcast news version of events.
And even Jeopardy is not as riveting as it was. Good habit to break. Other than those two I haven't missed it much. Not $80 worth.
Meanwhile I am likely to kick off a month of Fubo if they show the French Open and Wimbledon tennis. The latter hits right after my hip surgery so I have an excuse to watch. Hopefully they will do a decent job of covering both tournaments.
I'm very ready for hip surgery. I've got a mostly constant limp now and my sleep is fitful as I try to find a position that works. Knowing that it it fixable is helpful but the wait is annoying. I have a lot more sympathy for people who can not get the problem fixed as I can.
