I've invariably inundated myself with information via all the news feeds that were not 4CHAN that I could find.  As long as they were well written I read them or at least scanned.  This resulted in my reading a dozen email news feeds and half a dozen apps.  NYT, WAPO, Al Jazeera US, Daily Beast, CNN, Fox, ad nauseum.  I'd have read the WSJ if they let me do it for free.  As well as the National Review.

I eventually trimmed down to the least biased which, of course, mostly dropped Fox, CNN, Daily Beast and focused on feeds like 1440 and Axios who truly try to be unbiased.

Just in the past few days I've scanned more than read even those practicing a new skill.  My intent is to back off from the bleeding edge of the election news and really most of the news.

I'm old enough that I feel like I've earned the right to be low information.

We watch the evening news, usually ABC, every night.  Last night I skipped through the first third of it which was about the election and nothing bad happened.  I think that will be my method for a while.  As long as I can last, anyway.

I'm reading about 1960 and earlier histories and listening more to historical and music oriented podcasts.

The world will, I think, continue to revolve without me.  I suspect that any lowering of indignation on my part will not matter much.  Apologies to Eldridge Cleaver if I become even more part of the problem.  Not sure I was much of a part of the solution anyway.

I might get a subscription to The Atlantic.  Long form journalism is hard for me.  My ADHD gets in the way.  But reading journalism as opposed to news is a temptation.  They are actually selling physical subscriptions again.  I don't think I'd go that far.  If I did I'd go to the library and hide out.

Today, thought, I'm geared up for the Navy Notre Dame game.  I'm fairly sure it will not end in my favor but there is a bit of hope and the game is nearly as historical as Army Navy.

It is fall and college football is on.

Meanwhile, Austin FC has a new coach and is signing up their roster.  New season begins in two months.

There are such important things to do, the news just needs to fade away.
