Today was another lovely dog walking day. I was at the ranch for nearly three hours from about 7:30. The dogs were enjoying the cooler weather and we had a good time.
The Ranch has hired two women that I think will be there a while. They are both wonderful and are learning all about the dogs. One of the two is a natural manager and organizer and she loves Khaliese so how bad can she be? There are now 21 dogs there. Between some of the seniors moving on and a couple of the very young ones being fostered out there are several empty kennels. Still lots of work to do, though.

Apollo is a great dane and has not been there long. No idea about the back story (we typically don't know how the dogs got there) but he was abandoned one way or another. He's pretty happy at the Ranch but keeps hitting his tail on the side of the kennel. This is, apparently, typical of great danes and is a reason to dock their tails. The whip them back and forth so much the end ends up bloody and easily infected. They make tail covers commercially and on Etsy. One of the ranch people is getting a friend to knit a tail cover for Apollo.
I got a very majestic picture of Duchess this morning. She was zeroed in on something interesting. She seems pretty happy at the Ranch as does the other pitbull found on the roadside with her, Duke. They are both just as sweet as they can be.
Skylar is one of three dogs brought in together. I don't think he'll be there long. He's sweet and would make a good home dog and is too young to be at the Ranch.

He ended up at the ranch along with Bear and Tiger. I think they were found as I'm pretty sure the names were added by the Ranch. I've not walked Bear and Tiger but here is a picture of one of the other volunteers with them:

They are also pretty young and some kind of corgi mix. The two of them would be wonderful in a home and I suspect they will go there soon. Hopefully not before I get a chance to walk them.
The woman who started the Ranch is very religious so Christmas is big. We are very decorated already including this sign:

All in all a good way to spend a morning. I find that more and more I look forward to Tuesdays and Thursdays as much as Pickleball days.
