Reading and baking

I was lying in bed a few mins ago not really napping but reading my way further into The Stand when I suddenly had a hankering for spice cake.  While I've got nearly all the ingredients I'm missing apple or apple sauce or carrots and cream cheese (what happens when you buy bagels).  So, no spice cake today.

Soon enough, this fall, we'll have a store nearly walking distance from our house and I can use them as just in time inventory.   That will be a good thing in a lot of ways but may result in more cakes.  

So, back to my book.  I've got cookies that will have to do until supper time.

Plan C for chocolate. I had some chocolate ganache left over that was screaming for a chocolate cake to go on and I have a good chocolate six inch cake that needs to be tested in the countertop oven I've got so I felt obligated. The chocolate cake is in its little six inch cake pan and the ganache is warming up on the counter. All should come together in an hour or two.

According to Kindle, 28%. I read it when it came out in hard back but have forgotten nearly all of it and, of course, it is a little different after the past year or so. A little closer to home now.
