This on our walk today.  Zoe is better now.  She SO WANTS TO chase the deer.  She knows I'm going to say no.  When we see a deer she has that kind of hesitation and when I say no just kind of slumps with the attitude that says I never let her have any fun.  I do let her chase the squirrels though.  They need the exercise.

I walked calmly by and they did not startle. The fawn was just playing, not scared.

And this morning I've got a 'User Interview' gig getting my expert opinion on Medicare in exchange for $40 on Amazon.  I apply for these and this is my third.  They are not arduous and money on Amazon is pretty easy to spend.  Free cash is always nice and I'll likely gather some info on Medicare I didn't know.  Mine is set up but Dana joins me in December and hers is more complex.  I doubt we'll make a change but one never know.

aww! I got to see a doe and her fawn last night while visiting my sister! She says they play around her house and she loves to watch the fawns, who are just learning to use their goofy little legs. Great pics.

Squirrels are more than capable of looking after themselves. My friend Tasha used to own and race five sled dogs (huskies) and sometimes when she walked them in the local woods a squirrel would register its disapproval by pelting the dogs with acorns. The dogs' bafflement over acorns raining from the sky was apparently quite something to behold. My favourite part is that after the dogs passed the squirrel came down and took the acorns back.

That's wonderful. Yeah, squirrels are tough.

I'm always impressed at how close you can get to some of the wildlife. We have several wild rabbits who consider our enclosed kitchen garden their personal domain and who won't so much as twitch when they lounge on t he grass outside of it even when the [power] lawn mower is within a foot of where they've stretched out; I have to actually place a foot within eight inches of them, and then they move leisurely. The deer just keep an eye on us to make sure of our intentions.
And I once walked through a large flock of Canadian geese who had sort of bedded down on the lawn of one of our public parks, taking care to mimic the way the geese walk (even turned my toes inward), keeping my arms wrapped behind me. Perhaps they thought I was an unusually tall goose, but they didn't move and ordinarily they've have scurried, or flown a short distance to stay clear of a human, because they're not that habituated.
It felt kinda cool.
