I've got to get out and cycle some.  Heading down to our community pool now school has started and before the little buggers get out for the day.  I'm trying to do some extra movement every day thanks to Noom.

The 30 or so pound basketball I carry in my waist has gotten to annoy me enough I'm going to do something about it.  Again.  Different focus this time.  I've proven over the years (thanks Nutrisystem and Meta-whatever and KETO and all the others that want me to generate my 'ketosis' or whatever it is) that I can not function without carbohydrates.  When I hit the chemistry they are wanting me on I feel ill and it does not go away until I have some carbs.

So, Noom.  I've been looking at it for a while.  It is a sane approach and 90 pct positive and much more 'middle way' buddhist than any of the South Beach types.  I've basically committed to five months of it for about $170 or so.  My goal is pretty modest, about 15% of my body fat in six months.  And my reasoning is so that I can move better and to keep my cardiologist happy (not really... she's got to be responsible for her own happiness).  So far, so good.

It does mean that I have to get out and move more.  So off on the bike to the pool and maybe the fitness room for a bit.

Frogs.  Toby loves to have Dana take him out frog hunting in our back yard.  They both enjoy it and he is never successful.  Until last night.  I'm watching Austin FC lose another match when I hear "close the door!!!".  I'm way too far from the door to get to it before seeing Toby scamper through with the legs of a frog dangling out the front of his mouth.  He had the whole damn thing, other than the dangling legs, in his mouth.  I grabbed him and he he dumped the frog who quickly jumped away from me under the table.  Cue the interior frog hunt.  Damn things are dark and quick.

We finally got it.  Toby went to the couch to sulk and stay out of trouble.  Zoe went to a corner just in case she was in trouble.  Dana took the frog back outside where he is reported to be in good health.

So [livejournal.com profile] susandennis you may have a birder but we have a frogger!!

I'm in my first week so no data yet. But I like their approach. After four days of training (their training is really good) I'm still four days away from being a 'Noom Novice'. So there is lots of training. They do a psych reprogramming. None of the ketosis crap or carb free or the rest. They obviously look down on things (like my cinnamon rolls) but agree they can have a place, just not as big of a place, in my diet. Nothing is really out of bounds other than extreme anything. I signed up for five months. If they can do what I want by then I'll be more than happy.

Yay frogs! My mom lived in a house once that had a pond--really it was more like a well, that's how small it was--and there were lots of big green slippery frogs.

One of us would be the "scarer", and come up behind a frog on one side. The other would hold a net, and when the frog jumped away from the scarer, the person with the net would catch them. Then we could try to hold the frog, always a challenge due to slippiness, and we would try to put little flowers on their heads and stuff. Good times.

I wish you luck with Noom. I did a trial for 2 weeks, doing everything they asked of me and I gained four lbs. :) (Plus the cute little tips got annoying.)

Interested to hear your opinion about noom. I've known a few people who tried it and of those folks it got VERY mixed reviews.

Glad the frog survived!
