After 60+ years of listening and reading nutritionist and diet information I've now seen the whole enchilada reduced to 7 words from Michael Pollen (writer of 'The Omnivore's  Dilemma', et al).

"Eat food.  Not too much.  Mostly plants."

I read this in my Noom studies today and a light went on.  It was Alexander Pope who said "What oft was thought, but ne'er so well express'dā€.  That kind of sums up Pollen's seven words.

I love that book and often use that quote. It has influenced the way I eat for years.

Yeah, bit of irony. Were I following that philosophy I'd not have been on Noom and not have stumbled across the quote there. I'm only a theoretical vegan. Next time round the wheel.

I am far from a vegan. In the book, he talks about ethical eating and eating food that your grandmother would recognize as food. I focus on fresh ingredients and some free range meats and keep my processed foods to an absolute minimum. That works for me because if I have to eat only what I cook, I tend to eat less and use very little sugar, fat or salt.

I have friends who have done really well on Noom, so there must be something to it. Hope you get similar results.

Ah yes, this is something Dr. Karl (ex-medical doctor and longstanding Australian TV/radio personality) has said for many years on the various podcasts of his I've listened to.

I'm a fan of eating plants — especially when the plants have been made into bread.

Clearly that counts! Of course the second sentence kind of cuts into that. One of my issues.
