Oct. 27th, 2021 12:30I went to see the doc today Two weeks out and they took off the bandage. I suspect that the technology is a product of the most recent wars. I did not have external stiches but instead my wound was glued together and a special type of clear tape was put on it. They put some Vaseline on it today and then the tape came right off and the wound is just a scratch. I forget to ask but there may be internal stiches or maybe more glue. Regardless it looks great and feels pretty good. Now is the time I'll overdo and regret it. But that has to happen sometime.
The doc didn't have much to say. More of the same. Don't be stupid (he didn't say that but it summarizes his intent). I go back in a month for an xray and keep up the PT until then. From this point forward my progress is in the hands of the Physical Therapists. The big day for me will be when I can tie back my own hair. Dana is infinitely patient with me but I like doing most things myself.
The other big event today is a trip to the Austin IMAX to see Dune. I first read the book about 10 years after it was first published. Then I read most of the rest of the series and finally re-read the first book a couple of more times over the past 40 or so years. This version of the book has pretty much nailed it. I've already seen it on HBOMax, in fact why I've got the subscription in the first place. But it is an IMAX sized film. And all my shots are current. So this will be my biggest foray, not counting the store, since Covid raised its head.
But I've been waiting for this for years so no stopping me. Dana is coming along and knows nothing about the story and doesn't like SF much. But I think she will like it. The story is good and well told.
