I'm still doing well with Noom and, for the most part, am happy with it.  Much happier than any alternative.  I'm still eating whatever I want within the limits of calorie counting in the app.  But I don't much feel like I'm denying myself.  The results are pretty good.  Halfway there:

As of today I'm at 215, down from 230.  Yesterday I was a little over 213 but I didn't believe it.  Change in water.  215 is pretty solid, though.  It will be interesting to see how I can maintain a below 200 weight.  Pretty sure I can do it but how to integrate those chocolate cakes?

Other than that, my therapist just left.  I'm doing too much and am in danger of damaging my rotator cuff.  All those tendons need to get used to being attached to metal, I guess.  Not a lot of info was given to me about this whole process but the bottom line is I need to just stop doing as much and wear my sling more.  Couple of more weeks and I can be without the sling.  So patience.

Funny thing.  I've had three therapists come to the house.  Two were from the Philippines, one from Iran.  These are the people I think of when I hear 'build that wall'.

Hey, great job!!

Different methods work for different people. I've seen lots of ads for Noom and am glad to know that it does work well for you!

On integrating chocolate cakes: Not sure how Noom actually works, but when I do calorie counting with MyFitnessPal, if I know I want to eat cake that day I'll put that in my calorie counter first, and then work the rest of my calories around it. That usually means cutting fat or sugars in my other meals for the day, but hey, perfectly willing to eat a salad with lean meat for lunch if it means I can have a big chunk of chocolate cake :D

I've not used MyFitnessPal before but I'm aware of it. Likely will switch over once my subscription to Noom is done. There are advantages since it integrates physical activity better.

And, yeah, I usually put in my dinner early in the day so I know what I've got left in the budget. I nearly always have a small chocolate pudding or cookie or graham cracker kind of thing in the budget too. Not so ascetic in my lifestyle. For the moment I've left off with the cakes. Pick that back up in 15 more pounds.

As a longtime user of MFP, I'd say the advantages are that it's very useful for holding yourself accountable for what you eat, for planning your meals each day, and in seeing how your physical activity contributes to a calorie deficit. There's also a great community to ask questions of or get support when you need it.

The downsides are that the macronutrients are NOT always accurate, it is important to actually click on each item before you add it to ensure that the carbs/fats/proteins actually reflect what you ate. The calorie tracking depends heavily on you being honest with yourself; for example there are opportunities for you to input a 100-calorie slice of chocolate cake...but did you REALLY only eat 100 calories worth of cake? If you lie to yourself the tool is useless. All that said, it's a good free tool and it has helped me to maintain weight during the pandemic, and now on tour.

Great job on the weight loss!!

From being in the Navy I've spent a lot of time with the Philippine people in Subic, in San Diego and throughout the Navy. They have their own mafia and fill the service rolls with a tight crew. It works.

The PT/OT person the Roommate had was from the Philippines. In Houston this is common.
