Mick and the boys on and off

Dana had an invite (paid ticket) to go to the Rolling Stones at our local raceway, Circuit of the Americas.  She ultimately decided not to go.  I thought it was a bad idea from the start or I would have gone with her.  The cheap 'seats' are something like $150.  Seats is in quotes as there are none.  It is standing in the field for three hours.  No chairs or anything other than what amounts to a clutch purse is allowed.  When I was in college I would have done something like this without thinking other than the fact that at that time it would have been some swing band still trying to hold on.  From what I see on YouTube Mick and the boys look, perform and sound terrible and Charlie Watts is still dead.  So paying $150 to stand around for three hours and watch them hobble around the stage trying to project some of the old juice would have been painful on a lot of levels.

Dana had never seen them (I did long ago with another wife and hardly remember it) and I was fine with her going.  But last night she really started to see the reality of what she would have to go through and veered off. So no stones tonight.

I'm quickly cancelling the dancing girls I had on the schedule tonight.

Aside from the issue of having to stand for three hours, there is the issue that people have been crushed to death, in situations where there are no seats. I do think the Stones are still worth seeing, based on the video I saw from their Las Vegas show a week or two ago. When I saw them about 15 years ago, the sound sucked, way too echo-y.

My son went to see them in Toronto shortly before COVID and he said they were amazing. I was surprised. I didn’t think he would have the slightest interest in the geezers.
