This time of year I'm so sick of commercials I just want to shut it all off.  It is because of football.  But I'm not watching as much this year so it is not quite as bad.  Most of the rest of the year I can just forward through them but football sends me enough updates I know the score if I delay the game.  Or my son sends me a text.  So I end up watching in real time.  I'm not going to buy a truck.  Or a diamond ring. Or Captain Morgan (really???).  I've got a phone and far as I can tell all the telcoms suck at about the same level so, no to that.  And nearly anything else they are spending huge amounts pushing at me.  Oh, and I'm not gambling.  Even 'responsibly'.

Whew.  I feel better.

The Patriots are losing, which is unusual even without what's his name as QB.  Oh, yeah, they are losing too.

We've been watching Game of Thrones second time through.  It is a commitment but is so well made with amazing sets, actors, costumes and blood and a story line that kind of makes sense this time.  Now I know who's who in the zoo.  We've been binging it and are approaching the last season.  No idea what we'll do then.

Other than that it has been a very, very quiet season.  Too damn many people out on my walk but they will go back to work/school soon enough I guess and I'll still be there walking.

Dana gave me a 6" bundt cake pan for Christmas.  It came with a pound cake recipe but the recipe wants to use yogurt and she has become very lactose intolerant.  Until I got to the store and get some almond yogurt and lactose free cream cheese for icing it will have to wait.  I suspect that will happen today, though, since my mouth is now watering just thinking about it.

The temp is perfect here.  Shorts weather but not really hot.  And now snowing.

Pretty sure my whole prep for the winter apocalypse thing is working.

We're all sick of the same holiday commercials, but it's certainly better than certain political ads in the fall of an even number.

It's very wintry here lately.

I so get it about tv/radio ads during sport but, of course, they only want me to buy trucks, insurance, beer and gambling in the summer. last summer when delaying didn't work (when the team is having a good year, i discovered, there is no way to live in game ignorance for more than 2 mins) i got so i just hit mute so at least my ears got a rest.

I thought lactose intolerant people to do yogurt because of the enzymes and bacteria. I might be wrong. I feel like Alton Brown talked about it on the yogurt episode of Good Eats.

Yeah, so says WebMD also. Interesting. I'll try it in the pound cake and see if there's any adverse reaction. Unfortunately Dana frequently doesn't make the connection between eating something with lactose and having digestive problems. She has other issues too and is not much of a logging kind of person so makes it hard.

Good catch, though. Thx.

they're so repetitive and awful! i don't watch much commercial tv so when I do see an ad now it's like I can't deal with it, I've forgotten how to properly tune them out. I'm like "is this how we used to live?!"

That's the problem with liking football. Every fall I'm watching a lot of TV in real time. The rest of the time I skip commercials.

The commercial that really bugs me right now is the GEICO, I think, where the kids are upstairs with a pool and splashing water everywhere.

Yeah, most of the GEICO commercials go right past me. Thank heavens for mute.
