Many years back when I was helping my mom return home after a stay at the hospital she got back to her bedroom and the first thing I heard was 'hello, bed' and a big, happy sigh.

All four of us are so stuck in our routine that going somewhere is anxiety in action.  The drive yesterday was interminable (maybe 4 and a half hours).  We arrived just fine and found the place (kind of a condo/apartment set up) and it is lovely.  But the dogs are stressed since they don't understand what we're doing and that makes things more difficult.  We can't just put them in the back yard.  We have to walk them several times a day and night and they both just pace around trying to find their usual places in the house.

Dinner last night was great.  Excellent food.  Unfortunately for the restaurant it was not too busy.  Good for us, though, and a place we'll go again.   We both love crab cake kind of food and the restaurant had excellent ones.  Dana had halibut and I had lamb.  Both were very good.  We also never go out to eat so it was a treat.  I'm not looking at the checks for anything for this four days.

Off to the beach shortly.  The dogs will get some fun time and be more inclined to sleep once we get back.

I find the same thing, I prefer just to stay at home because new places are such a faff. Unfortunately my wife doesn't agree.

You're not looking at the checks? My partner does that all the time — just hands over his credit card without looking at the check at all. Periodically I tell him the story that my father-in-law was about to do the same and then my husband picked up the check to review it and found that it was for over $3,000 for four people. Someone had added an extra zero somehow and it was supposed to be $300+.

I hope you are having a wonderful time!

I actually do glance at it to verify number of digits but this week I'm not watching to keep cost down. We've not gone anywhere in a long time and I don't want to obsess about cost.

Thanks.
