Kind of obvious, I'd think. But I'm brought to it anew every time I see an ad on local TV or in local email extolling the virtues of Arkansas or Iowa, 'Hey, come live here, it is better than Austin.' Which is, of course, what Austin used to say. I spent 10 or so years on the board of the local Chamber of Commerce mostly to see how the mechanics worked. All I ever heard was how fast we were growing and that we needed to manage the change. No one much managed anything and we weren't growing very fast at all compared to the express train of growth we have now. And everyone is too busy making money hand over fist to 'manage' the change. It is a slow rolling disaster of insufficient infrastructure combined with climate change. I won't be around to see the worst of it and I'm sure they'll sort it out eventually. By then Arkansas and Iowa will be dealing with the problems since they seem to think growth is better than planning. But what do I know.
Dog Ranch day today. I'm finish breakfast and then off to walk the furry ones. Morning is better than afternoon. Less heat. More energy. The rest of the day to catch up and rest.
