I paid taxes today or at least obligated myself to have it sucked out of my savings account. I calculated the taxes twice using Turbo Tax and H&R Block. The latter was a little more clear to use and a little (maybe $15) more expensive. I ended up paying $69 PLUS TAX! for TT. Not bad. Now I don't have business expenses or income life is easier. I did just notice that my last business is listed as a K-1 with zero profit/loss. Hopefully that won't cause any issues.
TT and H&R came out within $100 of each other. I owe about $2400. H&R got all antsy about my having to pay a penalty for owing too much tax but TT didn't bring it up. We ended up with more income this year between the oil wells bringing in more and having to take a distribution out of the IRA for Dana dental. The difference year over year was enough that the IRS didn't give me a hard time over not keeping up with quarterly payments.
I don't get anything deducted from my SS payments.
Just looked at the return again and I see that TT dropped in information about my old company. Calling TT now to find out if/how it can be removed. I think it is too late and the return has been transmitted.
Talking to them now.
