That line reminds me of Zero Mostel. I miss having him and his whole crazy group of Catskill comedians around.
That aside, Dana asked me to verify my return flight time and I checked it. Turned out what was in my calendar and in my mind and what I'd told Dana was different from what I'm actually doing. Turns our that the only person who really knew what was going on is my sister who is reading this right now with a good bit of surprise and consternation. And concern. Not to worry, from your perspective nothing has changed.
Quite a while back I changed my schedule as Alaska Airlines had decided that my perfectly reasonable 8:30 departure should be randomly adjusted to a very unreasonable 6:30 departure. This means that Dana would have to get up at 4ish, ride with me down to the airport, and then sit around waiting for it to get light enough for her to see and drive back through Austin during peak morning rush hour.
Changing the schedule worked out. I'm leaving this Sunday and returning 8 days later, a couple of hours before Dana's brother comes into the same airport. All well planned on my part, I must say. Except for the part that I put it in the calendar so we can plan around it and get our minds ready. And I end up missing my sister's birthday. I missed the first four too so she's used to it.
Fortunately Dana asked the question and I checked.
Nothing has changed but my calcified brain synapses are resetting now and will be for a while. Fortunately I've got a couple of days and not like I've got much to do in my life anyway.
Last night's soccer game was recorded and we watched it on TV to find out all the stuff that you miss live. They do almost no replay at the stadium and announce goals and substitutions and penalties and that's about it. So there are 20K people sitting around wondering what is going on. But I'm caught up now. Good game. Austin losing is embarrassing but now they can focus on the MLS games which are, in the long run, more important.
