Unscrewing things is hard
Dec. 27th, 2023 16:16I finally opted into Tiller using a Google sheet to track my finances. I've been doing it manually and this is a more comprehensive way to do it. Which, of course, is way more complex. I already killed it all and started over once. I think I've got it this time but there are so many small details that don't fit yet and more details that are things I've been avoiding that are costing me money.
At the moment it is Google. Google One and Google Nest and Google Nest Aware which is linked to your Google account and your Google One but not actually part of it and if you used your Nest camera before 2019 it different and no, we don't have any real help, but you can use a different Google account. No, not that one. That one is already being used as your Google One account. This has to be different. And, of course, you'll lose any storage you have under your current Nest account when you change accounts.
So Google and Amazon and Wyze and anyone that links your stuff to an online account sucks. Or, I guess it would be they suck. Grammatically correct insults are important.
There are few ways that it could be more complicated but I'm paying more for less and am about ready to dump the whole thing and find another way to do it. Flash light and a paper towel tube.
And, of course, I'm scared that I'll lose my thermostat if I try to do too much.
It is what happens when companies try to be everything to everyone.
