The first was to see if they could convince my heart to get out of AFIB. Kind of a first step for anything else. She had a new assistant who was so not ready for prime time that I almost called it on the spot. But we did the thing and it didn't work. No real surprise. My heart has been in constant afib for years and it doesn't matter to me at all. I can't tell. The only outcome is the threat of a clot being thrown to my brain. That's what we fixed six weeks ago.
Today she was again in charge. This was the 'A' team, though. I love the prep people when they are good and these people were excellent. The object was to stick a camera down my throat and get a side shot of my heart to see how the appliance is sitting in the pocket on the side of my Atrium. They could not get the camera down my throat. "Do you have any problem eating?" "Have you seen my body fat? No." Somehow or other they could not get the gear in my throat correctly so the process was a fail. From which I have a sore throat and a bunch of questions.
She said something about my going to endoscope person but, while he/she might have a better chance in inserting a scope (I've had endoscopic procedure before) they don't do the same camera so I'm not sure what that will do.
The cardio doc is not the best person for me to communicate with. Most likely the whole looking to be sure everything is good part of this is moot. I think everything is fine and the procedure is more for them than me. I wrote the head of cardiology who put the hardware in my heart in the first place so we'll get it sorted out, I'm sure.
I was fine yesterday (hip excluded) and am fine today and will be tomorrow. And got some free drugs. I do love anesthetists.
