Back from the Ranch.  The puppies are happy and I lasted nearly two hours.  Got a bunch of them out and about and it was good for me.  I don't really feel sore but am going to shower and ice.  And rest.

In the 1960's I let my hair grow.  Me and the rest of the male population who were not from Oklahoma.  It created conflict as it was, I guess, supposed to do.  Off and on through the years I had it short again but when I changed schools to one in Massachusetts the crowd all had long hair so I let it go.  Used to grow ice on the wet strands as I walked to breakfast after a shower.  Then college, of course.  I was in the theater so my hair followed the part I had but grew long when it was not involved.

That continued until 1980 when I went into the Navy.  I had hair down to my shoulders and intentionally gave the barbers there a kick to let them cut it.  Twenty years later (that's about 250 military haircuts) I retired and it grew out again.

I cut it when I started a business here in Texas and wore it fairly short until I'd established myself and had a network of people who knew me.

Sometime in 2006 I stopped getting a haircut and grew it long enough to tie it back.  I've had a pony tail ever since.  Really I just hate getting my hair cut.  It is a PIA and an expensive one.  I calculated that I'd saved more than $8k by cutting it myself.  I just pull up the pony tail over my head and trim it.  Been doing that for 18 years.

For some reason I don't really know I decided to get it cut.  I do kind of miss the days when I could just brush my hair with my hand and it would be dry and in place.

So I've got an appointment for a haircut and beard trim tomorrow.  I don't think it will last.  If we had a military base close by I'd likely keep it short.  But for what they charge to cut hair I really can't afford to keep it too short.  So I'll likely grow it back.

But it will make it easier for post surgery and I'll look good going in.

I had to wait for David Crosby to die before I could really consider it.  https://youtu.be/4Lk2KHajp4Y?si=QW4xgkPG821UloG9

Hair cuts for men and women are very expensive in the UK.But you can find someone good to come home and do it for £10 for men and women.I found mine on a local community site.
I prefer it to going and sitting in a shop and so very much cheaper.

$55 for a ladies cut. No thank you !!!! How much would it be in a shop ?
There are many qualified mothers for example who want a job to fit around children that i'm sure would be much cheaper.A request to Next Door or Facebook for example would find them.

As you say, it will be handy to have it short after surgery, but otherwise, my feeling is if ya got it, grow it. My hair is nearly down to my waist now and I can trim it myself by bringing the ends around to the front and snipping them off. You can easily pay $100 for a cut here.

WHAT?! I thought you'd seen me on Susan's webcam! Don't tell me that wasn't seared into your synapses instantly. I've never posted a photo of myself anywhere on the internet, but it always sems a bit rude talking to someone who does and you haven't reciprocated, so I'll send you an email. That'll make me feel slightly less rude.

I sympathize. I almost always have my hair long enough for a braid or bun. But every once in a while I get the itch for the indulgence of a nice hair cut. Then I bitch about the cost and having to grow it out again.
