When we moved from our old building/home/store/office I got rid of nearly everything. 3600 sqft down to 1000sqft. I don't think I've regretted anything I let go. But I needed a new chair and it needed to fit in the leg hole of the desk I'd gotten from the Dana collection. Tight quarters. So I got an Ikea $70 no arm simple office chair. Five and a half years later it was getting a little creaky and I decided it was time for an upgrade. So I got (https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/flintan-office-chair-black-90489029/) from Ikea (without going there!!!) cranking up my willingness to spend money by $9 which with inflation probably means I spent less this time.

It is actually a really nice chair. Much better back and seat and it is finally high enough that I have to let it down a couple of inches to be right. I like being high up like one would play piano so I can do keyboard. This is perfect. And my newly bruises ass likes it too.

Speaking of which, every day is a revelation of improvement. I've gone from lots of hydrocodone and a walker to a cane to no cane and now I don't even have to think of my balance or being off balance. I still am very careful. Maybe in a month or so I'm allowed to fall. But not now. I'm still very sore but it really is just like someone kicked me in my ass. I can nearly sleep on my side now (HUGE) and can sit for a long time. It takes me a while after getting up out of a chair to get past the stiffness but at least I can sit without being in too much pain.

We're going out to the Ranch here in a few minutes to say hi to the hounds and bring them some new check off sheets.

I did find out today that Mama died sometime while I was gone:

Mama was a dog used for breeding. Once retired she found the Ranch where she lived many years past her life expectancy. She would always bay good morning to me when I drove up.

I also received a text from my favorite Ranch Boss that her last day was Friday. She sent me a sweet note and is apparently moving to Tennessee. I'm very happy for her but sad for me. The job of working with these dogs is really hard. I'm sure they don't get paid very well. Their primary job is to feed one end and clean up from the other. Cleaning out the entire facility every day, washing all the sheets, and all of it with the racket of 30 barking dogs. They get a lot of help from volunteers but I suspect a lot of friction also. And they really have a lot of responsibility. So I was glad to see her move on. She was one of the originals and it was time.

Her replacement has been there a while and is also nice and easy to work with so not a huge difference. My gig is I get there, walk the dogs, and go home. I try not to make it more complex than that.

It will be nice to say hi to everyone there today.

I'm grateful for the chair review. I need to get something better than what I have. No arms is my preference.

I remember you posting about Mama before. I'm glad she had a good life at the ranch.
