Dana bought some screening so we can throw it around the bottom until I build a real chicken run.  That way we can let them out under the coop during the day.  Then back in the barn at night.

Once I'm done I might see if I can amortize the cost of this thing by offering to build them locally.  There is really nothing like it around.  Closest thing is 40 miles south and starts at $1K.  I can do this for $700 and buy a damn radial arm saw to make it easy.

I came here by way of your sister. Given that keeping chickens seems to be gaining popularity with people who aren't otherwise into farming, I would think there would be a market for nice chicken coops like this.

Selling these did occur to me. I've got a streetside location, a place to put them that would be VERY noticeable. Lots of lessons learned building this one. I'll likely modify the design some. A little smaller. But then build it on spec and advertise. See what happens. It would a fun cottage industry. I'd HAVE to have a couple of more tools. Radial arm saw, at least.
Finishing this one is first. Roof and trim is all to do. By this weekend.
