I had my new dentist appointment today after having fired the old one. This was better. But they really want to do a 'deep' cleaning and I don't care if their reasoning is sound and the cleaning will save me I still don't like it. Nor the $505 I have to pay for it. But it is the best of a crappy deal. Beaux gets put to sleep for his dental work. I'm so envious.

On the up side this is only the second dentist I've ever had who had seen the movie Marathon Man so that was a positive. He referenced Little Shop of Horrors and the Steve Martin character too so he got positive reviews from me for that.

The dental person (whatever they call them today) did a much better and less painful job too. Still not fun, still not painless, but better.

Shortly before the appointment we lost electricity. First time in as long as I can remember that I had to open my garage door manually. We're back up now so that is fine.

I had a strange thought today. OK, another strange thought in a sea of them. I saw this chart:

unnamed

The story was about how AI is writing much of the content on the Internet now days. Isn't the Internet where AI gets a lot of its learning information? If so, can AI tell whether something is written by a human and, if not, is is just sucking up data from itself and its other AI compatriots? The biggest echo chamber in history.

Never did post this..

I read some article somewhere--I don't remember where--that discussed how AI will eventually sort of "implode" (not really) because it will just be regurgitating itself and have no human-generated content to "learn" from.

I think I'd be slightly scared of a dentist who referenced Little Shop of Horrors.

I used to work with someone who was having gum disease treated and that was apparently appalling. He used to come back to the office looking like he'd just been in an accident. So I remind myself of that every time I approach the dreaded six-monthly (painful) cleans.
