Just completed my first court date in Webex.  Just a six month update to the placement activities of the kids assigned to me.  It was so much nicer than having to go down to the court but as my first really official remote court meeting it was strange.  A couple of people, including the court's attorney, had crappy sound and the judge had to tell them to speak up or move closer to their mic or call in.

Something that the court reporter should be testing prior to the beginning.  But no one asked me.  I'd been using my webcam which is, I think, pretty good as both camera and mic but after a couple of people had issues I put on my headset which I know is crystal clear.  Probably blew out people's speakers when I started to talk.

I did wear pants, though.

I've been enjoying doing things remotely but the sound/technology thing has been a little tricky. I have a headset which is normally great, but a couple weeks ago in class my teacher asked me to present and then kept telling me that my sound was cutting out. I assume my internet connection was misbehaving because I normally don't have any issues.

I always wear pants for conference calls, even if I don't have to be on-camera. Just in case. :)

Yeah, there needs to somehow be a visible quality gauge for the speaker so that you can tell if your sound is good. There are too many elements involved for that to happen but it would be nice. Nothing worse than presenting and not knowing that your sound is bad. Especially in a courtroom setting.
