Hopefully the last tremor of 2020

For me the 2020 year will not be over until the 20th and I feel mostly sadness about it.  But I also believe that we will emerge on the far side of the disaster that has been this past (political) year stronger.  The democratic, small d, values as well as the Democratic ones have been challenged like nothing in my life.  As painful as it is to see education and privilege wasted in someone like Ted Cruz he will be remembered only as a contentious and ultimately purposeless sycophant and the system will move on and become stronger.  

We've another week of 2020 and then 10 days or so of ripples and talking heads and then we're back to the normal chaos and I can feel like celebrating the new year.

Knowing that the country will survive and be stronger for having worked through every possible iteration of resisting a power grab, resisting a dictatorship, is comforting and ultimately instructive to the larger world political growth.  The historians and political scientists will be writing about this for decades.  There is no Guy Fawkes hero in this, no annual celebration, because the people won, the populous ultimately said no more.  The center ultimately held.

But I'll feel better analyzing this on the 21st.

Totally agree about the 20th. 12 pm will be 6 am here and I might even get up for it to make sure Biden gets thoroughly inaugurated. Although I'm actually a lot more nervous about the Georgia Senate runoffs. That could change everything. Also the craziness coming in DC on the 6th when the Trumpers descend to worship their idol. I need to stop looking at Qanon accounts as those people terrify me. They honestly think BLM/Antifa (all the same as far as they're concerned) are gong to be lurking in the shadows of the DC Metro waiting to attack them. just hope any counter-protesters stay away for their own safety.
