I cycled my ~20 mile circuit this morning starting at dawn. Then I came back and walked the dogs. Then watched three sets of French Open finals. As close as I'll get to a triathlon. Short follow up nap was included. My fitbit is happy.
The rest of the day is just quiet and, if I could, would be staying inside. But I've got a roast that needs to go on the grill so I'm waiting for the absolute hottest part of the day to begin that. This time of year I could cook it at 2AM and it would still be too hot.
We're solidly in the dog days here and will be for the foreseeable future. My phone says 7 of the next 10 days are over 100 and, of course, the rain is over. Only brown grass for a few months.
Fortunately we have AC. I've got pickleball scheduled at 9AM tomorrow but I think even that will be too hot. I'll play anyway but will drink a quart of water on the way and two while we're playing. Our PB group is great. Anyone says 'i'm feeling a bit dizzy' all stop and everyone goes into nurse mode, including the actual nurses who are playing with us. Zero judgement about stopping play and sitting down. We had one person fall and all the games stopped to be sure she was OK.
The UV for tomorrow is 11 'extreme'. UV might be on a scale 1-10 and this is like 'Spinal Tap' turning it up to 11. I wear long sleeves in the sun and am inside by the time it hits that mark.
The Austin FC soccer franchise is in the pits now. We lost last night in a game that was probably our worst since I've started watching. Since I've seen every game they have played, that's pretty bad. Even though I played and have watched a lot of games I still can't see what is wrong as I would be able to watching a bad American Football game. From what I can tell in the Reddit commentary the type of game that the coach is trying to play is too sophisticated for the players on the team and he is committed to it one way or another. Looks like it will be another and we'll have some bad games for a while. It is just an attitude adjustment for me.
Nothing at all on the schedule this next week. I did not order food so I've actually got to plan, buy stuff at the store, and then cook. How did I ever do that all the time?
I'm trying to see how little money we can spend this month. So far, so good. We are basically not buying stuff that is not necessary. I'm spending money as needed for all the norms and food as we need it. But Amazon is wondering where I am and I'm not shopping elsewhere for anything. I've got a list of things I wanted to buy that is dying on the Amazon vine. We'll see in a couple of weeks how it worked. We need to put together a few bucks to replenish the long term care savings account bucket for the payment due in September. I've already got this year's payment. I'm filling it for the following year. We have eaten through much of our short term savings so I'm working to build them back up for the next dental emergency or dead car or dead AC or whatever else.
