It is getting the old one off.  That was painful.  Stripped the phillips head screw that held the thing on but fortunately the screw was also set to match a socket I had on hand and I used the wrench to get it started.  Upside down.  And backwards.  In heels.  Me and Ginger.

The new one went on with no problems and no leaks.  It is nice:

A $90 kitchen improvement.  And I'm recovered from all the twisting and shoulder wrenching.  Should be good for a while.

I think I'm a couple of years past you. I've reached the age where I say "Nope! Totally worth paying somebody else to lie on on their back wielding heavy tools and getting soaked".

I came close when I stripped the screw. But I'm stubborn.

What's the purpose of the brushlike thingies on there?

That actually pops on and off. It is a little brush ring that is for helping wash dishes. I suspect we'll remove it and put it in a drawer.
