I feel for the north and east.  Having lived here now for 16 summers my only interest is when the triple digits start and so far this year we've been luck.   The rain has gone and the temps are going up but in the ten day it does not go above 94 (34+) so in June that's a win.  And our AC is excellent.   But I remember 100+ in Maine in the 1970s and NO AC at all.  Same in NYC.  So I have sympathy.

My biggest issue is I think I'm too old to go out in near 90 degree sun on my bike.  Which leaves me with the only choice of getting up early and riding which means riding before I walk Zoe.  And that means getting up at dawn.  Yuck.  I used to get up at 6 or so and ride about 20 miles nearly every morning before work.  It was great to be out and riding when the sun came up but I've gotten out of the early rising habit.

But I need to do more than a daily mile and a half walk.  So I'll give it a shot tomorrow and see how it works out.  Maybe sleep in late to 6:30.  No need to push it.

Today is Dinnerly delivery day.  So nice to have three days of no meal planning or buying.  Lazy.  They are still about $40 so that's $6.70 per person per meal.  And the food is nearly always excellent and creative and not what I would normally make.  I actually just upped our meal count to 4 for next week.  An additional day of lazy.  Looking forward to it.

So far this year, it hasn't been warmer than the mid-80s here. They're forecasting a California heat wave next week.

Our heat wave starts Sunday when the high is predicted to be 72! UGH. But, the cool has to end sometime, I spose.

Yeah, starting that time of year when your high is the same as our low. It is a bit depressing to get up in the morning and it is already 75 with 65% humidity.

well, yeah, if 'a bit depressing' means wrist slitting. i do not know how you do it. at least you have good a/c! and a vacation coming up :)

Good idea being cautious about the heat — I only discovered recently the reason older people find it harder to handle heat is because you don't sweat as much. Apparently fans don't work as well for that reason, something I'll be bearing in mind in coming years as they're my only form of a/c.

There are people who live here without AC as there were in Florida when we lived there but once acclimated to having AC it is nearly impossible to revert. Especially at my age. Nor would I want to. We've got a Nest so I can control the AC from my phone and I'll keep it as warm in summer as I can and save electricity. And we have ceiling fans in the rooms where we spend our time that run constantly. As long as I don't go out in the high heat for long my body temp stays cool enough to be safe. But no more hour+ rides in the middle of the day as I used to do.

It's odd, but we've been much warmer than Texas for over a week. We've hit the 100+ degree mark more than once and hovered near it for several more days ... There is not break in site for another week more. Our plants, despite daily watering, are frying. It is a chore to walk Bella in this weather.

I'm flying to Houston on July 4th, hoping the moderate weather continues in Texas ...
