Wow! Good job. That ground looks like pavement almost.

It is seabed (dry concrete ) on top of clay. I was able to do four of them in two and a half hours. Time for Tylenol and ice. Last two tomorrow morning. Then wait for about a year and it'll be pretty. I'm sure the bees will thank me.

That's looking great. A lot of hard work too, it looks like. Try not to hurt yourself digging in that soil. It looks pretty brutal for digging in.

That looks like, as we say around here, some extremely hard yakka. (That means work, not clay, although I bet the clay was as well.)

Yeah it was pick ax to get through the top layer, more pick ax for the six inches of compacted vegetation, and then spade for the clay at the bottom. About half an hour or so for each hole. I'm sore and on extended rest.
