The downside of retirement is income that you don't much control, that is at the whim of, now days, any politician who feels like they need to prove something.

So we have social security checks that are threatened.  And military retirement pensions that are threatened.

And partially as a result of the above, stock market going down.

Thank you for your service.  You don't mind if we ruin your month, or two, by refusing to raise a debt ceiling that we've already obligated ourselves to spend, do you?

Oh mannnnnn, I haven't even started collecting Social Security yet. I hope it's still paying out by the time I decide to collect.
