We had our quota of spring showers and actual weather (heavy rain and hail) yesterday. It was really nice. I spent a lot of the time out on our screened in porch with Zoe watching. But that was it. Here is what Weather.com says we have in store:

Capture
(In Celsius it is 'freakin' hot')

Everything will be desert dry by end of May and this rain will be a distant memory. Such is Texas now. We are poised as well as we can be. Nearly all of our landscape is drought resistant. We run our watering system for about 10 minutes once a week and hand water after that as needed. I'll cut the grass tomorrow or whenever it dries out enough and then maybe once a month. Not all bad.  If we make it out of May without any triple digit heat we'll be lucky.

Dana is heading up to see her son and his family today and staying for a few days for mother's day. I've been given dispensation to remain behind. She actually no longer asks. I love having a few days to myself and, really, it is good for our relationship to have a break. It is nice to have someone to depend on but nice to have some space too.

So it is just Zoe and me for a few days. Zen and the art of dog walking.

Unless you're amazingly fond of your in-law family, that's a fabulous arrangement. I hated spending time with my ex-husband's family because they were awful, but fortunately for me he hated it even more. But they don't have to be awful for the spouse to have a pretty dull time while the rellies catch up. (I think that might be a NZ word - meaning relatives.)
