Back in married life
May. 12th, 2022 17:13Dana came home yesterday. The trip was right much of a disaster. Everything blew up on Mother's Day but was simmering before. It is a lot of Mother in Law/Daughter in Law stuff. Her son's wife is way too much like his mother and they end up fighting. Toby got involved and bit (not much) the grandson who, even Joseph agrees, likely deserved it. But there was gasoline all over the place and that event lit the match. Now Dana is persona non grata. That family has some major issues but are, fortunately, four hours away.
Wisely, Zoe and I stayed here. Poor Toby went to sleep shortly after they returned and slept straight through the night hardly moving at all. He's doing great now and happy to be home.
I don't ask too many questions.
The Dog Ranch was good today. I get out of there before it gets too hot. According to one of the worker bees the volunteer situation is pretty good. They have people every day. A lot of them come from Sun City. Seniors who have a good work ethic and like to help. So there were four or five dog walkers. I've been there when I was the only one so this is a luxury. I can grab my canine of choice and spend all the time I want with them without feeling like anyone is getting cheated.
It is a lot better going in the morning when I've got more energy. And then I've got the day to do whatever I want.
Which is not much today. Picked up a few Prolific bucks. They are paying a lot better now days. Without too much work I can scrape up $20 or $30 every couple or three days. Not a lot but not nothing.
Watching Shining Girls. Not a Dana kind of show so I watch it between doing things with her.
Reading, and nearly done with, Don Winslow's City On Fire which is another of Winslow's outstanding crime sagas. I've only got another hour on it.
Then it is on to 'Broken Ice' which is book two of a series by Matt Goldman set in Minnesota.
