I stopped getting my hair cut in 2007.  My business was solid enough that I didn't have to keep it short and I hated getting it cut.  I'd done it every couple of weeks for my Navy career and started again when I began my business in Texas.  But I was done.  I didn't like to sit in a chair and have to make small talk (love the 'no talk' barber idea) and hated paying so much money and then having some woman try to guilt me into buying 'product' from them.

So in 17 years I figure I've saved about $7k.

If you are wondering, I tie my hair in a pony tail, lift it up and trim it.  Not a perfect system but since I nearly always wear it tied back it looks good enough.

I've returned some of that $7k to the service industry in massages and would do more if I had more.

Since I have a really hard time reaching my left foot with my screwed up hip I now return some of the money to a podiatrist.  Did it today.  It is too expensive ($50 - $40 plus tip) but she does a really good job.  Her process is solid from an infection perspective.

Having my nails trimmed and my callouses removed is so worth it.

Not sure if I'll keep doing it but will certainly do it through the hip surgery.

Meanwhile my feet are beach ready.
