Ditched the waker
Jun. 26th, 2024 13:04I've been on my cane all day. Dana doesn't like it. She'd rather I be in a full bubble. But I'm very comfortable with the cane and feel sufficiently stable and strong to not need the walker. And it is so much easier. I actually ventured outside on our porch for a few minutes when Dana was asleep. But I'm careful. As long as I don't fall, everything will be fine. This house is not big at all. I don't have far to walk but there are lots of supporting surfaces in easy reach if I need them.
Counting my remaining pain pills I calculated I'd run on on Saturday. Not a good idea. So I wrote the doc and made my case and Dana is picking up the prescription in a little while when she gets milk. I feel a lot better now. I don't want to be constrained by lack of resources when I'm making progress. And I'm doing more physical work now trying to build up some muscles as things heal so being able to knock out the pain so I can recover is essential. And I want to have some hydrocodone left over. It is one of those things that is impossible to get (for obvious, if annoying, reasons) but I think is essential. It can keep the doctor away. I had half a bottle left from my knee that lasted three years. Hardly ever used it but when I needed it or Dana needed it the access was really helpful.
I'm in an increasingly better space. Still making progress. I do not have a single thing scheduled other than my own poorly managed physical therapy until the 5th of July.
Mostly I'm watching the Euro and South American (COPA) football tourneys. Very little attention is required on my part and the games are recorded.
Saturday is the beginning of Le Tour. It is on Peacock. Wimbledon starts 1 July. So my dance card is overflowing for a couple of weeks.
