Well, the experiment of moving my credit union account to Chase is not going well. So far I've made two deposits from my other checking account and have had the account locked twice. In 24 hours.
Chase would seemingly have an easy way to open an account online. It took me minutes and I could clearly see their verification working. They did all kinds of background automated checks of my identity. All very smooth. But as soon as I attempted to transfer $100 my entire access to Chase was locked. Half an hour on the phone with a security specialist and it was unlocked and I thought everything was fine. So I set up another transfer from the same account for $1500 so that I could get enough in there to pay my mortgage end of the month. Chase security locked my account again and rejected the transfer. I called them and was embroiled in a web of questions about what car I currently have, what businesses have I been involved with, and what amount did I recently spend at a gas station. Since they had called me I thought the entire line of questions pretty stupid. I talked to the person who originally called and her supervisor but all they could do was read off the screen. So I'm not sure why there was a person on the phone at all.
I'm going to a branch today and maybe sort it out. Or close the account and try a different bank. There is a Texas bank, Frost, that might be better.
Or just drop the whole new bank idea and go back to where I was last December.
I'm trying to calm down before I go to the branch. I was not very nice to the drones on the phone.
