I've been over writing on @mallorys_camera page but deleted my latest entry. There are no words. There are too many words. 

Once again, the Onion says it best here.

The Governor of Texas will be speaking at the NRA meeting this weekend and next time the legislature meets they will find a way to loosen the Texas gun laws again.

I suspect this will not change in my lifetime and the Onion headlines will continue as they have for nearly a decade. 

I skip the coverage.  What is the point.  More crying mothers?  We have one or more of them every night on the news.  More screaming people?  The NRA laughs and prowls the halls of what should be a democracy.

Thoughts and prayers.  The center crumbles once again.

Our governor claims that he and our [state's] First Lady are heartbroken over this ---but he signed a no-permit concealed carry law for this state, too.

I stumbled across this post trying to get away from the news. I've cried off and on all day watching the coverage. I did see Beto confront Abbott at the press conference. The NRA has Abbott in their back pocket. Watching Abbott, Cruz and Patrick pushing their agenda made me so angry. I had to stop watching the news.

I read 'Bowling for Columbine' shortly after it came out and thought: 'Now, this will do it, this will create the momentum for sensible gun control.' I thought the same after Sandy Hook and after Parkland and after Las Vegas. But with Texas in the lead the answer is to arm more people with less control and no training required.

It is a parallel universe of the brainwashed.

Not an American, so I try to refrain from commenting on the politics of it. I will happily quote a high school friend who has been living and teaching in the US for years, and may even be a dual citizen by now.

“The American Constitution is not a holy document. It's a human document written a quarter of a millennium ago in an imperfect compromise.

We figured out that one human being is not worth 3/5 of another.

We figured out that women's views can't be represented by their husbands.

It is time to stop offering our children up at the altar of the current interpretation of the second ammendment.

Unimaginable ... Unconscionable.

My niece is a teacher in Texas ... I fear for her life and the lives of my great nieces and nephews ...

The answer is never more guns.
